An Open Letter to MoveOn.org
Last Update: 2008-09-22 20:49:32
Posted on: 2008-09-22 20:49:32 by: Ryan C
I am just as much progressive as everyone of the hard-working people at MoveOn.org and am doing what I can to help elect Obama.

However, I think that MoveOn might make a bigger impact if you learned from the masters, and by that I mean the Republicans.

I've seen a number of recent e-mails lamenting the horrible ads and slander of the McCain campaign that beg the membership to donate so that the truth can be told.

With all due respect, you guys just don't get it.  It is much easier to sew doubt that convince someone of something.  As a result, your efforts would be much better spent generating media that generated doubt about him.

Something like this video ad:

Sinister, or perhaps old-timey music fades in (I'd have to think about the music some more)

McCain video with him saying that the economy is sound and strong, with date in bottom - left.

fade to:

McCain video that shows him admitting he doesn't understand the economy, dated

fade to:

Stuttering video of him being clueless about how many houses he owns, dated

fade to:

Video of him saying that the economy is having a hard time, dated

fade to some horrible press photo of him looking clueless on one side, with a montage of people who are bumming that fade in and fade out on the other side.

Voice-Over:

Does McCain really have a handle on the economy?  Can a man who doesn't even know how many houses he ownes have any idea of what you are experiencing in these troubled times?  Do we want to give the Republicans four more years?

Voila!  Doubt!  Not lies, just using the rich fodder that McCain has practically given us on a silver platter.

Unfortunately, we live in an era where truth and issues have been replaced with spin and attack ads, and if we (meaning all progressives) don't catch a clue fast, we are going to lose yet another election (and we can kiss the supreme court goodbye).

When I was a little boy, I got beat up on the playground at school almost everday.  I tried talking to the bullies, tried hiding from the bullies, tried everything I could.  I didn't get left alone until I broke one of there noses.  Know why?  Because that's all they understood.  It wasn't their fault, I didn't want to do it, but they gave me no choice.

The progressive movement in this country is in the same position.  If we don't take the gloves off and start bloodying some noses, we are all sunk.

A Changing Political Lanscape Requires a Different Tune
Last Update: 2008-02-07 08:49:12

Well, since Edwards has dropped out of the race and now it's between Obama and Clinton, I'm changing my tune.

Obama is our best bet for a win, as a result I'm supporting him as the nominee.

Why? Hillary can't win a general election and here are what I think are the reasons why:
  • There are many people who will cast a vote against her vs. for McCain
  • If she is the nominee it will galvanize the Republicans behind McCain and will bring them together. Our best bet is to keep them fractured and complaining about McCain not being a real conservative. Hillary on the ticket will cause the folks who would otherwise stay home to run, not walk, to the polls to vote for McCain
  • She won't get a single Republican vote and will get very few Independents
  • She doesn't energize the youth vote like Obama. Obama will turn out the 18-25 like never before
  • She can't say that she was against the war to begin with
So, unless you want to help put McCain in the White House and have four more years of a pseudo Bush administration, I would strongly suggest voting for Obama in the primaries.

I would much rather have a Democrat in the oval office when the next Supreme Court Justice retires.

Kerry's Trying to Screw Things Up . . . Again

Dear Mr. Kerry,

It wasn't bad enough that you choked on defending yourself from Bush's swift-boating and your huge gaff just before the '06 election, now you are supporting Obama?

Dude, please, for the good of the country, just go home and keep your mouth shut.

The Democrats best bet for a win in '08 is Edwards and you seem to have turned your back on him.

Hopefully, your reputation will help pull Obama out of the top tier and let Edwards go on to a nomination.

More proof positive that you have no clue what you doing.

Daddy's Gonna Eat Your Fingers . . .
Last Update: 2007-03-20 14:05:07

I was packing for my business trip and my 3-year-old daughter was having a wonderful time playing on the bed. At one point she said, "Daddy, look at this," and stuck out two of her fingers.

Trying to keep her entertained, I reached out and stuck her tiny fingers in my mouth and said, "Daddy's gonna eat your fingers," pretending to eat them. I went back to packing, looked up again and saw my daughter standing on the bed staring at her fingers with a devastated look on her face.

I said, "What's wrong, honey?"

She replied, "What happened to my booger?"

A video posted on YouTube spoofing a apple ad from 1984 featuring Hillary Clinton as Big Brother seems to herald the end on an age when politicians had control over their message. http://www.macobserver.com/article/2007/03/19.5.shtml

Hello Everyone, and welcome to my Art, Animation, and Photography site. I will be posting photo albums that I created using NeoPhoto, a photo album program by my friends at DTLink Software. I helped them with this project, providing all of the graphics and developing all of the templates used to create the albums on this site.

Motorcycle Racing
Here are some pics of me racing.

Sonia and I picked up another Hawk.  This one, an '88 with what looks like a good solid motor and frame.  Just about everything else it toast, but the price was right.  :)

If you came out to Summit on Track Day chances are your picture is in here :).

Our first dive in Hawaii

One of the coolest places I've ever been (as far as underwater sea-life goes).  Visibility was about 150 feet and there was so much to see.
