Diving in Kona, Hawaii 2004-05-10
There was this couple on the boat that had evidently done a lot of diving and had a really high-dollar camera. The woman in the pair jumped off the boat just about as soon as we were moored, all by herself, bragging about her 100 minute bottom time. We met our new friend Pam on this dive. A very nice lady who's husband was out golfing while she was diving. The first dive was really nice, we went to about 60 feet or so and saw a lot of really pretty fish and coral. It was really sunny and the water sparkled. On our second dive, which was closer to the shore we swam through some caves and tunnels in the rocks, which was really cool. The surge was a bit heavy about 10 feet in each direction. We saw lots of eels.
Once we got back to the shop, we decided we wanted to dive on our own the next day so got a set of gear and two tanks of air each. Then we hit the French Bakery with Pam for a snack. We had cookies, strawberries, and a killer eclair. Then it was back to the hotel for showers. We were actually pretty tired and just wanted to get an early dinner and go to be early but none of the restaurants that we wanted to go to were open for dinner. Evidendly, people are serious about their mid-afternoon breaks. So we killed some time at the local Walmart. We had dinner at a really nice Japanese place and the waitress was nice enough to give us the glass. We then got really good smoothies at a juice bar, checked e-mail, and got ready for more diving.
